Crescents @ Salt Creek
A crescent dune as the subject, another crescent dune off to the right, the backside of a crescent dune to the left, and a whole lotta crescent dunes on the other side of Salt Creek. Everything you see here that is flat was a torrent of water when the tropical storm remnants of hurricane Hilary dumped a year's worth of rain on Death Valley in a day. In many places, things are still gooey. At times, I had to walk on the tops of the dunes because the flats were too gooey.
After taking this photo, I took a nap in the crook of this dune while waiting for the sun to lower and improve the shadows. But, weather moved in and obscured the sun.
