Acraea violae (Tawny Coster)

Larvae of Acraea violae/Acraea terpsicore (Tawny Coster), Cyberjaya, Kuala Lumpur area, Selangor, Malaysia. This species has spread down from the north, utilizing the widespread introduced Passiflora foetida as a host.

There is some doubt as to the validity of the scientific name of Acraea violae (Fabricius, 1775), with some taxonomists preferring the earlier name of Acraea terpsicore (Linnaeus, 1758). They appear to be the same species.
