St Cattwg's, Llanspyddid, Brecon 30 May 2013

A well executed design, grapes represent the Blood of Christ.

The current St Cattwg's (Cadoc) dates to the 14th Century, with a reference to the site in the 13th Century. There was extensive rebuilding in the 19th Century. In the southern part of the churchyard is an ancient stone which may have had half of its height snapped off in the 19th Century rebuild of the church; it is said to be the gravestone of the 5th Century Brychan Brycheiniog, King of Brecknock, or Aulach his father. A porch with interesting carving was added in the 16th Century.
