St Peter's Church, Llanwenarth Citra, Abergavenny 23 November 2012

"Keep faith and true repentance

And then let death come when it will"

Note, the mason misjudged his lettering. Double panelled stones were popular in the 18th Century into the 19th.

Parts of the church are dated 13th Century, others 14th Century and later. Until 1860, it was also the parish church for Llanwenarth Ultra. Another church was built at Govilon to save the sometimes hazardous journey across the river Wye by originally boat, then a chain ferry.
