Swift Derby 7.5 x 42 Binoculars 1982
Swift Derby rubber armoured binoculars with an unusual 7.5 x 42 specification to give an exit pupil of 5.6mm. They have a fixed focus system with "Near " and "Far" adjustment, which is a little odd. They were supplied with an eyepiece rain shield, but no objective lens protection. I wrote to Swift asking about this, but was told as they were rubber armoured, they had no intention of producing such protection. Consequently my wife made a cover as seen, from a carpet tile and a piece of DPM cloth, which has done the job admirably. The eyepieces fold down to accommodate spectacle wearers.
These were bought new as a present by my wife in 1982. They have been superb despite the odd fixed focus (similar to the British Army Avimo binoculars which were just coming into service at the time).
