The Vulcan Hotel, St Fagan’s, Cardiff 30 March 2024

A work in progress, the Vulcan Hotel, due to open Summer 2024.

The Vulcan was originally in Adam Street in Adamsdown, Cardiff. Originally two terraced houses, it was knocked into one building and licensed as “an ale house” In 1853. The current appearance of the hotel dates from 1915 when the height was raised and the tiled façade with the name added.

In 2012 the pub closed and the building offered to St Fagan’s. Reassembly commenced in 2020.

St Fagan's is an open air museum, part of the National Museum of Wales. Buildings and artefacts from all over Wales have been dismantled and re-erected here, often saving them from destruction. This process is ongoing.
