Crooke’s Radiometer, Cwmbran 6 March 2018

My Crooke’s radiometer, which consists of vanes on a spindle, alternately polished silver and matt black, all sealed in a vacuum similar to a light bulb. When sun strikes the vanes, the black absorbs heat, the silver reflects it and this combination causes the vanes to rotate, quickly picking up speed. Absolutely pointless, just designed to demonstrate the physics of absorption and reflection.
