Holy Trinity Church, Church Road, Ilfracombe, Devon 12 April 2017

The 1788 sundial over the porch. In a time when few could own watches or clocks, these were often fixed to churches.

Holy Trinity was built during the 13th Century and enlarged in the 14th. Additions were made in the 15th Century with widening of the aisles and more additions. A sundial was mounted in the 18th Century and there was extensive refurbishment in the late 19th Century. Grotesques on the nave roof supporting corbels are believed to be older than the roof.
