Platform Bridge, Railway Station, Cogan, Penarth 1 November 2017

The Grade II Listed platform bridge at Cogan Station.

 

Cogan Railway Station opened on the Barry Railway Line in 1888. The ornate cast iron platform footbridge was produced by George Smith & Co of the Sun Foundry, Glasgow. This foundry operated from 1859-1899.

 

There is an apparently identical bridge, again produced at the Sun Foundry, over the Dean Forest Line at the bottom of St Mary’s graveyard at Lydney, see link:
