Drinking Fountain, Pontypridd 28 August 2015

The 1895 drinking fountain on Penuel Lane. A globe lamp with a serpent entwined around the stem, with two dragons. Designed by CB Fowler, it was erected on land donated by Sir Alfred Thomas MP. It is a fine example of the Celtic revival, and is Grade II Listed. This notwithstanding, before the closure of the nearby Morgan Tavern, a drinker left the pub and ripped off the dragons from the fountain.
