m42_mn190_QHY247_10x10s_10x60s_10x300s_g0o200_HDR

A new version of the Great Orion Nebula (M42/43) and the running-man nebula, the last of the season for 2019/20.

Camera: QHY247c

Scope: Skywatcher MN190

Focal length: 1000mm f/5.2

Exposures:

10 x 10s

10 x 60s

10 x 300s

The high dynamic range of this object requires a series of exposures of different lengths in order to retain the detail in the bright core of the nebula as well as pull out the fainter outer gases and dusty regions. Zoom in on the centre and you can see the bright trapezium of hot young O-type massive stars that light up the nebula.

Taken 20th March 2020 from Cumbria (UK).
