The kids complain that there assignment isn't going well and need help mixing ingredients for a potion. So in the 2nd area talk to the kids and flowerings and they'll give you items. Depending on your combination he'll tell you how close you are to getting the right combo. Again Trial and Error. What you need is Fairy Scales, Star Sparkles, and Spotted Silver Mushrooms. I'd tell you which ones to talk to but some of these guys walk around so it's not accurate.
