The legend of how the Pyrenees was formed:
Pirene, daughter of the god Tubal, and the hero Hercules were in love. Tubal was opposed to this relationship and banished Hercules to separate him from his daughter.
From then on, Pirene plunged into a deep sadness and rejected all the men who fell in love with her. One of these suitors, blinded by anger, set fire to the forest where Pirene was and she died.
Hercules returned from his exile to bury his beloved in the place where she had died. According to legend, Pirene rests forever next to some huge stones that would be the origin of the Pyrenees.
