On May 1, 2013, Valero Energy Corporation spun off their retail operations into a new independent company, CST Brands. CST operated stores primarily under the Valero Corner Store name, among others. On June 28, 2017, Alimentation Couche-Tard (parent company of Circle K) acquired CST Brands. Since the acquisition, Corner Store locations have been slowly converting to the Circle K banner.
