Being a nomadic people their traditional homes were temporary structures.

A hard lifestyle in the old days but by today most Sami live typical western lifestyles. That light grey rectangle isn't a Lap-top screen of a Laplander but a small ventilation window.

Note the colourful national dress. Apparently in the 1950s very few were prepared to admit to being Sami because of the discrimination against them, but by today things have changed and the Sami costume can be seen on the streets. Being Sami is something to be proud of once again.
