First day with this operator for a route serving the inner Barnsbury area and allocated with a fresh batch of high-spec electrics. | Metroline London Wrightbus Electroliner GB Kite working the 153 to Finsbury Park Station.
The 153 has changed operators for the second successive tender. Originally with CT Plus, it went to Go-Ahead who weren't great and today it's with Metroline from their Holloway (HT) base with a brand new allocation of shiny GB Kite EVs.
First day is always an adjusting period, not helped by the Liverpool Street terminus closed for filming work so that meant this route terminated at either Barbican or Moorgate, Finsbury Square. Initial impressions are very positive though; the new Kites are quiet, smart and everything worked as intended with no screen blackouts. A bright interior certainly helps.
Quite enjoy riding this route; you go under a tunnel around Barbican, take some small roads that serve local Barnsbury pubs and end up serving main roads to the terminus.
