Ultraviolet Fluorescence - Green Darner Dragonfly
Overcast day? No problem, let's get creative indoors!
This is what I've been up to, this morning; another UV lit dragonfly.
This specimen is a Green Darner, even though non of its the shades that named it are visible in the ultraviolet spectrum.
Instead we get to gaze at a otherworldly colour palette of Magenta and Blue. This is the result of invisible UV-light, slowed down in its frequency by the process of reflection. Therefore the light travels in longer waves, now within the very subtle spectrum, and typically takes on bright neon-shades as in this image.
