"You've always had the power, my dear.."

"You just had to learn it for yourself!"

(Glinda, the Good Witch of the North to Dorothy, on how she would ever get home to Kansas..)

In Houston, the fine for assault is $500. The fine for consuming alcohol off premises is $175. The fine for giving a firearm to a child, is $500. The fine for leaving an unattended child in a car is $500. But starting Monday, the fine for not wearing a face covering in Houston is $1,000, and possibly 180 days in jail.

So, do they really think the police are going to arrest people and put them in jail for not wearing a handkerchief over their face when they just sent rapists and robbers home because it wasn’t safe for them in jail? Give me a break.

While wearing a face mask may be a prudent thing to do, allowing an inexperienced 29-year-old anti-capitalist activist turned county judge to make decisions that control commerce and personal behavior in a county that includes most of the City of Houston, is NOT a prudent thing to do.

It must have been a dream come true to shut down practically every evil capitalistic small business in town. She probably never dared to dream she would ever have that much power while she was protesting against capitalism and ranting against businesses. But this is America, and anything can happen if the people drop their guard.

Apparently, she had the power all along.. She just needed to learn it for herself..
