Big Daddy

That was his first grandson's pet name was for Dad - 'Big Daddy'..

I put this little slideshow together in case we wanted to show more of his pictures at the viewing, but they ended up just setting out some framed pictures and flags around the casket, which was better. A video would have been more of a distraction than anything at that moment.

The music at the beginning is Jack Johnson's "You know that I would", which speaks about the circle of life, and I thought it was appropriate, and not too sad.

The music at the end is just an instrumental piece by Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass, because it reminds me of a story..

We were living in the house I'm living in now. Dad was doing AC repair, working hard to support his large family. He and Mom saved S&H Green Stamps until they had enough to redeem for his first stereo, which was a cutting edge technology in those days. It was a silver portable turntable with black trim that had black detachable speakers, so you could spread them out, and get the full stereo effect.

We weren't allowed to touch it, of course. But I can remember him having it set up sometimes in his bedroom with the door locked and listening to Herb Albert. Alone, just for a moment of peace in the middle of the chaos that comes from seven people living in one house.

So it might not be normal to include so many pictures not of the person who has passed, but for Dad, his family was his life. So it only seemed natural to me to include his family in this short video reflecting on that life..
