"from the day we arrive on the planet, and step blinking into the sun.."

"There is more to be seen than can ever be seen. There is more to do than can ever be done."

I suppose that has always been true, but it seems it's never been truer than it is today. They say that in George Washington's day, a man could learn almost all that was known in four years of college. I suspect that's highly inaccurate..

Do you suppose a young man fresh out of college in those days knew all there was to know about navigation on the open seas, for instance? Or Newton's calculus, as it applies to the orbits of planets?

Still, an educated man then knew a lot more about the world than the average college grad these days. These days there is so much knowledge that we've given up on much of it. We rely on the expertise of those in the field, which I believe is why biased opinions with an agenda, like man-caused Global Warming have taken hold.

We cling to the outdated notion that scientists are unbiased seekers of truth and knowledge, when in reality too many of them are driven by the need to be needed - the need for money to continue their research. And there are many donors willing to invest millions when the return is in the hundreds of billions.

Just a teensy-weensy, tiny little carbon tax from each of us is all they ask, and they will ensure the Circle of Life will continue.. Which, when you think about it, is what the Aztec kings and Egyptian pharaohs promised, isn't it... Weird, huh?
