I've always loved this song. The beauty of the melody and the incredible guitar work in it are undeniably amazing.. But as an adult, I have a bone to pick with some of the ideas in it. Like, what happens when there are no rich no more? Shouldn't we instead be praying "till there are no poor no more"?

 

Who doesn’t want to help the poor? Even though America is in the process of being overrun by ‘takers’ who often shoulder out the truly deserving, we continue to take care of them all – deserving and undeserving alike. That, I have a problem with..

 

We have to stop what we’re doing, and clean house, or we’re all going down. The rich, the poor, and those who are simply takin’ what we’re givin’.. Why not? It’s free money – why wouldn’t they take it? Because it’s morally wrong?? Oh, please…
