Common Sunflower

A specimen of the common sunflower (Helianthus annus) growing in the Tucson Botanical Gardens, in Tucson, Arizona. The sunflower has been a focus of interest in poetry (e.g. W. Blake), art (e.g. Van Gogh), mathematics (e.g. Vogel, 1979), and religion (e.g. Spiritualism).
