Streitende Blessrallen / quarrelling Coots
Blessrallen sind die meiste Zeit sehr entspannt unterwegs. Sie können aber auch anders. Besonders in der Paarungszeit kann man sie dabei beobachten, wie sich die Hähne gegenseitig kreuz und quer über den See jagen und mit Krallen und Flügeln bekämpfen. Dieser "Selektionsmechanismus" hat sich in der Evolution anscheinend bewährt, sonst würden sich die Rallen diesen Kraftakt und Energieverbrauch bestimmt sparen.
Tech. Detail: Bei dieser Aufnahme hatte ich wieder mal den 1,4x Konverter im Einsatz. Die Entfernung war grenzwertig, ich hätte vielleicht besser Blende 10 (statt 9) verwenden sollen.
Coots are very relaxed most of the time when moving. But they can also be quite the opposite. Particularly during the mating season, you can observe them chasing each other across the lake, fighting each other with claws and wings. This ‘selection mechanism’ has apparently proved its worth in evolution, otherwise the roosters would certainly save themselves from that waste of energy and probably health.
Tech. Detail: I used the 1.4x converter again for this shot. The distance was at the borderline, maybe I should have used aperture 10 (instead of 9).
