Dieses Foto entstand bei einem abendlichen Spaziergang über die abgeernteten Felder. Der 28. Juli war hier ein heißer Tag und obwohl es schon nach 19 Uhr war brannte die Sonne noch kräftig vom Himmel. Ich hatte mich für eine kleine Abkühlung in den Schatten einer Buschreihe gestellt um nach Vögeln Ausschau zu halten. Plötzlich tauchte links von mir dieser zweijährige Rehbock aus einem Kohlfeld auf und wollte das Weizenfeld überqueren. Ein leichter Windhauch kam von der Seite, er konnte mich nicht wittern und hat mich erst entdeckt als er schon mitten auf der freien Pläne stand. Man sieht er ist in diesem Moment mächtig angespannt und überlegt gerade, wie er reagieren soll. In der nächsten Sekunde bewegte er sich in großen Sprüngen weiter in seine ursprüngliche Richtung und verschwand am Ende des Stopppelfelds wieder in einer Deckung.
This photo was taken during an evening walk across the harvested fields. July 28 was a hot day here, and even though it was after 7 p.m., the sun was still burning brightly from the sky. I had paused in the shade of a row of bushes to cool off a bit and to look out for birds. Suddenly, to my left, this two-year-old roebuck emerged from a cabbage field and wanted to cross the empty wheat field. A light breeze came from the side; he couldn't smell me and only discovered me being there when he was already standing in the middle of the open field. You can see that he is extremely tense at that moment and is considering how to react. The next second, he moved in big leaps in his original direction and disappeared back into cover at the end of the stubble field.
