Rotkehlchen / Robin

Das Leben in freier Natur ist hart. Beim fotografieren von Tieren und Vögeln sehe ich immer wieder welche, die mit gesundheitlichen Problemen zu kämpfen haben. Das Rotkehlchen auf dem Bild ist mir aufgefallen weil es etwas kläglich piepend und leicht lethargisch auf seinem Ast saß. Aber erst beim betrachten des Fotos am Bildschirm habe ich die Zecke am Schnabel bemerkt. Parasitenbefall kann für einen Vogel gefährlich werden, wenn es zu viele Blutsauger sind. Besonders gefährdet sind deshalb Jungvögel im Nest. Versuche des Rotkehlchens, die Zecke wegzukratzen, sind fehlgeschlagen wie man an den abgescheerten Federn in dem Bereich sehen kann. Ich hoffe, die Zecke ist später abgefallen und das Rotkehlchen hat sich von den Plagegeistern erholen können. Apropos: das ist der Grund, warum man Nistkästen Anfang März spätestens ausputzt.

 

Life in the wild is hard. When I photograph animals and birds, I often see some who are struggling with health problems. I noticed the robin in the picture because it was sitting on its branch, cheeping a bit pitifully and appearing slightly lethargic. But it wasn't until I looked at the photo on the monitor that I saw the tick at its beak. Tick infestations can be dangerous for a bird if there are too many of those bloodsuckers. Young birds in the nest are therefore particularly at risk. Attempts by the robin to scratch away the tick failed, as can be seen from the sheared feathers in the area. I hope the tick fell off later and the robin was able to recover from the pests. Btw. this is the reason why man made nestboxes should be cleaned at the beginning of March at the latest.
