Kernbeißer ♀ knackt Ahornsamen / Hawfinch ♀ cracking maple seeds
Seine Blätter hat der Ahorn längst alle abgeworfen, die Äste hängen aber noch voll mit Samen. Das Kernbeißerweibchen hat das große Angebot ausgenutzt und minutenlang von oben nach unten Ahornsamen gefuttert. Leider blieb sie dabei die ganze Zeit so hinter dem Ast dass sie mich im während des futterns im Blick behalten hat. Ob das nur Zufall war?

The maple has long since shed all its leaves, but the branches are still full of seeds. This female hawfinch took advantage of the huge supply and munched maple seeds top to bottom for minutes. Unfortunately, she stayed behind the branch the whole time so that she could keep an eye on me while she was eating. Was that just coincidence?
