One Pound Note c1940 and One Pound Coin 2017

The Blue and Pink ‘Peppiatt’ notes were issued between 1934 and 1949, revolutionary because they were the first to incorporate a metal strip for security and to counteract forgery.

The One Pound coin was introduced in 1983 as the notes were gradually phased out. This new style coin with 12 sides to the edge came along in 2017 again partly to help stop forgery after millions of cheap £1 imitation coins had flooded the country.
