Costa Cruises S.S. NeoRomantica, Madeira, 2013- Now Scrapped!
The latest one of the cruise ships to arrive at shipbreaking yards is the ship formerly known as Costa Romantica (now: ANTARES EXPERIENCE). Like many others of its ilk, the vessel is being sold for scrap due to the distress in the luxury cruise lines sector following the coronavirus pandemic. The cruise vessel was sold to the Alang ship-breaking yard, India, but was reported to be seen at the Gadani ship-breaking yard in Pakistan.
The ship, weighing 56,800 gross tons, was introduced in 1992 and entered service in 1993. We saw it in Funchal Harbour, Madeira in 2013.
