Beryl, the Big Yellow Bus!
There are quite a few small, private bus companies that exist surviving solely on contract work of some sort and school runs are an important part of their income. Secondary schools in towns like Newark have a wide, rural intake requiring transport, back and forth, from small villages and communities. These small companies suffered greatly during lockdown when most children had home-schooling and they were not able to fulfil their contracts!
These contract buses tend to be older models, discarded by the bigger public companies. This one is originally from 2003 and has been repainted in yellow - the colour that American school buses use but not very common over here.
Shot on Castlegate in Newark.
