Nature reclaims it’s own!
These are old wooden railway sleepers that were ripped up from the track bed at Shirebrook North Railway Station, long gone and now the site of a housing development. The station was at Langwith Junction, in North-east Derbyshire and closed to general rail traffic around 1955. These wooden sleepers were ripped up from the track and seemingly just dumped to one side with nature gradually overcoming them, slowly rotting them away and recycling the wood for its own use once again!
This shot was taken on a cold and frosty day in February. I have used monochrome to accentuate the air frost that has accumulated on the vegetation!
