Victorian Wall Boot Scraper!

Before pavements started to become common on our streets and during the time of unpaved roads and horse-drawn traffic, a common problem encountered, particularly during Victorian times, was the mud, refuse and to put it bluntly, the animal and human crap that littered the roads.

What was a person to do to clean their boots before entering a house or office? Well, scape off as much as you could using one of these inbuilt boot scrapers at the entrance! Many of these still survive in older properties from that era and they do come in several forms of which this sort is the most common.
