BITCOIN WRANGLERS

The mechanical door grinds open, letting a small amount of moonlight through. The lights of Reykjavík twinkle over the frozen wasteland, even visible at the Ansui Mining operation. The facility was highly guarded and under 24-hour protection by Ansui’s shadow military. Even still, May Eglisdottir was called out late to oversee a break-in investigation. The door makes a clunk as it opens all the way, letting May and her security team step inside.

The warehouse is warm despite the –20 C temperatures outside. The servers and GPUs hum away, fueling one of the largest Bitcoin mining operations in the world. The warehouse had already been secured, and the breach site had already been determined. The second server had been breached and a rouge worm at been placed, putting the whole operation at risk. May of course already knew this, her technicians had instantly noticed and isolated the second set of GPUs. She gingerly walks over the breach site and takes a look at the items left: a suitcase, a laptop and a card. The laptop was ruined, the gaping hole in the keyboard made that rather clear. The suitcase lay open with little bits of tech crammed inside though she wouldn’t have any clue what they did, so she left them alone. Finally, she reached for the card. Flipping it over revealed an ornate logo and the words: “AKU PARTNERSHIP”.
