"Manhattan" Mine
The original workings consisted of a dual compartment vertical shaft that worked the main vein. In later years, the whole vein was removed to a depth of 300 feet. This majority of the new workings of this mine are split into two huge open stopes; East and West. The West Stope was loaded out through a single chute through a perpendicular adit and about 500 feet out to the surface. The East Stope was loaded through 3 chutes that tie into a crosscut around 1000 feet from the adit. Another crosscut leads to a room with a large vertical shaft. This shaft was reported to reach a depth of over 500 feet, but is flooded about 50 feet down from the main haulage level. There is another drift leading off the shaft room that connects over 8 large ore chutes that lie underneath the East Stope. Most of the chutes are plugged with rubble from the open pit, but the last chute still has a traversable manway. Overall the mine has semi-extensive workings with impressive features
