Obtaining a driving license is very close to the hearts of city dwellers in Burkina Faso, where owning a car is a sign of social advancement or even a necessity, given the risks linked to traffic and a means of finding a driving job. So, “everyone” generally uses the hundred or so driving schools in the capital to obtain a category C (heavy goods) license. The training has three stages: the theoretical exam, the slot (which consists of crossing a U between stakes), and practice.
The vehicles most commonly used by driving schools are the Mercedes-Benz T2 Düsseldorfer Transporter, the Vario or the Klasse LK, which in most cases are more than 25 years old and the condition that goes with it.
