Beacon Blauw in Boxtel / Boxtel (NL)
NL - Wij gaan even terug naar Nederland, waar ik na de vakantie op zondag 24 augustus even op en neer ging naar Boxtel. Met succes: het was jaren geleden dat ik een 66 op Nederlandse bodem voor de lens kreeg. Het was ook een goede reden om de auto te testen na mijn reparatie van de gaskleppositiesensor, die helaas minder succesvol bleek te zijn dan gehoopt. Wij houden moed!
FR - Retour aux Pays-Bas le temps d'une photo. c'est au soir du 24 août que passe une 66 Medway aux couleurs de Beacon à Boxtel en direction de la Belgique. Il arrive que des trains pouvant circuler par la L24 Belge empruntent la ligne Venlo - Roosendaal, moyennant un petit détour par les Pays-Bas.
Line info: this railway is one of the connections between the European hinterland and the harbour of Rotterdam. it is particularly busy when the regular line, the 'Betuweroute' is closed due to (maintenance) work. Currently, Germany is installing a third track between Emmerich and Oberhausen, which occasionally means full reports on the Venlo line like this summer. Next big works are scheduled for the fall. Alongside this freight traffic, you may see still see some Traxx-pushed/pulled trains on the Eindhoven - Rotterdam connection, although this won't last long due to the entry into service of the newer ICNG trainsets.
Location info : Good spot in the afternoon during summer. Car advised, but accessible by renting an OV-bike from the close-by station. Ladder or pole required due to the fences.
