Victoria Fire Department"s "Rosenbauer RTX"
Our first electric fire engine. Squad 1 has just finished answering a call. From the City's website, "The truck is expected to run 95 per cent of its calls in full-electric mode ... an onboard diesel engine will automatically engage when the battery drops below 20 per cent during an extended firefighting response." The "Rosenbauer RTX" is about three feet shorter, and about four inches more narrow than the current fire engines so navigating city streets and going through traffic is expected to be easier. I think the new truck looks great and, I believe more electric fire engines will be acquired.
