The Formidable Formosan Mountain Dog

This is E.T. the police dog on kitty cat patrol. She makes sure the three cats don't act inappropriately while outside. Inappropriate behavior consists of running too fast all nuts looking like a scared bunny rabbit and is punished by super fast attack dog gentle paws. She will often lunge at a random strange dog in the dog park jumping up on it's owner, as if to say: "No! We don't do that! You're ruining things for everybody!"

The bushy plant in the background is goutweed, which I make muffins out of. They taste a little like anise and a little bit 'green' and they will surprise you with their simple deliciousness. Here is my secret recipe:

Goutweed Muffins

2 large eggs

1 cup goutweed leaves

1/3 cup sugar

1/2 cup butter, melted

2/3 cup flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp salt

Pour boiling water over goutweed leaves and let sit a few minutes. Whisk eggs with sugar until pale and fluffy. Add cooled melted butter and vanilla. Mix flour, baking powder and salt together, then fold into the batter. Drain goutweed and mince finely, then stir in. Bake at 425F for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Makes about a dozen muffins.

You are welcome to come and eat 95% of my goutweed. It is unkillable and ridiculous but also nutritious. It plagued me in Montreal and it plagues me in Vancouver. But eating it makes me feel better.
