"My child, today we sit on this beautiful beach, enjoying, watching the waves, the penguins and the boulders, but not so long ago people with our colour of skin were not allowed on such beaches. We were chased, beaten and sometime tortured, all because we looked different. We were treated with less regards than the penguins you see here. Not as humans, not as people capable of thinking and loving.
I did hate back then, not those that were chasing us, not those that were beating or torturing us, they were ignorant and did not know they were doing wrong. Those that I hated were the ones who knew better, the church going families, the mums and dads, who knew that it was wrong to treat people this way, but walked on without looking, helping. It did not concern them.
See my child, you will grow in a different world. Hopefully better than the one I knew. We learn to forgive and move on, but, if we do not want history to repeat itself, we should never forget. Grow to not allow injustices around you, to yourself and to others"
