If you look real hard you can find the smaller image field from the previous photo in the upper left quadrant of this photo. You really just have to see one stone after another to understand the complex technology of this ancient unknown North American culture. This stone appears to have been washed with blue pigment like a paint brush, and then super-heated/hardened similar to a permanent ceramic-like glaze.
