A slightly closer analysis of the quartz pigment applications on ceramic symbolic piece at 20x's magnification indicating a more complex image field. Learning how to interpret the micro images is progressive. At first glance the pigment application looks normal; but after viewing tens of thousands of ancient quartz pigments on a micro-scale, the eye begins to see images and narratives from an extended perspective. It is a process of learning how to see the images within the pigment using the understanding that different pigments represent specific symbolic narratives starting with blue, then green, white, brown, and yellow. In Egyptian Art gold was reserved to represent the gods. Red and brown represented male symbolism and perhaps the micro images visible in the whitened quartz background outlined with brown pigment represent male figures of strength and power. Female images were usually represented with paler colors of yellow and white because women were less strong and spent more time with daily life and children; as opposed to the male, who was required to travel beyond the dwelling in search of food and raw materials for sustaining the life of his family. Blue represented fertility, water, life, the heavens, and all sustaining richness of life. Green is a product of Blue representing life, water, fertility and yellow representing the spirit of the sun, the gods, and light necessary to sustain life; green is a mix of all goodness and life in the world. The colors represented on this symbolic ceramic fragment are certainly aligned in a similar fashion to this symbolic ideology.
