Bald Eagle

Bald Eagles are hearty birds that stay in Northern Michigan throughout the year, even the cold winter months. I found this gal on a field near a small country road. She and her smaller mate (male eagles are smaller than females) were near a deer carcass on a cold winter day. The five degree Fahrenheit wind is blowing at her back, hence the ruffled head feathers.

Winter birding continues.
