G-AWWX

BAC 111-509EW One-Eleven

Dan-Air London (all white intermediate scheme)

Noted at Riem in this all-white scheme on 23 December 1979 and 13 January 1980. Had visited before with Caledonian Airways in 1969 and 1970.

Information from flickr - thanks to Ken Fielding:

G-AWWX was delivered new to Caledonian Airways at the end of Mar-69. In Nov-70 Caledonian Airways 'merged' with British United Airways to form Caledonian//BUA, renamed British Caledonian (B.Cal) in Sep-71. The aircraft was sold to Dan-Air London in Oct-75. They operated it for another 17 years until it was sold to International Lease Finance Corporation in Nov-92 and stored at Southend, UK. It was leased to British World Airlines in Apr-93. They had planned to re-register it G-OBWG but it never happened and it was returned to ILFC in Apr-95 and stored. By that time it was 26 years old. It was sold to Aircraft Financing and Trading the same month and then sold to 'Oriental Airlines' in Aug-95. The aircraft was finally broken up in Sep-98.
