Direction Générale de l’Aviation Civile (DGAC),
Service de la Formation Aéronautique (SFA)
F-BJTI stopped at Riem on a training flight from FRA to LGW. It is seen taxiing past the viewing terrace to runway 07. This Caravelle was again noted at Riem on 5 March 1981. It had been seen here with Air Charter International (ACI) on 21 March 1971 and 7 October 1972, and probably with Air France in the 1960s. On 18 May 1977, F-BJTI performed a low approach to Riem and then flew on to Melun-Villaroche (LFPM).
Delivered new to Air France on 23 May 1962 as F-BJTI "Navarre". Leased to Royal Air Maroc in November 1964 (again in February/March 1973), to Kingdom of Libya Airlines from July to November 1967 (wearing stickers) and to Air Charter International from March to October 1971 (wearing ACI tail logo). Back to Sud Aviation in September 1973 and sold to DGAC. (Source: rzjets.net)
Sold to Zaire’s Air Transport Service (ATS) in 1988 as 9Q-CZZ. Used by the Congolese Army, a nearby warehouse caught fire Kinshasa April 14, 2000 and spread to a cargo load of ammunition, severely damaging or destroying several jetliners, including this Caravelle. It was the last Avon powered Caravelle in service. (Source: Gary Vincent on airhistory.net)
