Very rare photo: 4X-FPY did at least one low approach to Riem’s runway 25 on 9 August 1972. The aircraft never touched down but flew on, probably to Manching Air Base. This was the last Stratocruiser ever at Riem, or rather over Riem as it didn’t land.

Pan Am operated Stratocruisers to Riem from winter 1955/1956 on flight PA72, so it’s likely that this aircraft had visited the airport before. (Source: Luftfahrt, Das Magazin der Zivilluftfahrt, Sonderheft 50 Jahre München-Riem, January 1990)

Information from 1000aircraftphotos.com:

This was the last of 8 Stratocruisers built for American Overseas Airlines and named Flagship Scotland, delivered to the airline on January 5, 1950. The airline was taken over by Pan Am the following September and so were the Stratocruisers. This aircraft was initially renamed Clipper Eclipse, later Clipper Mandarin, it was stored in 1960. On February 19, 1962 the aircraft was registered to the Israel AF as 4X-AOI, reregistered 4X-FOI in November 1962, and to 4X-FPY in 1965/66. Thereafter it was serialed 97.

Reportedly, this aircraft was preserved at Hatzerim Air Force base, but the aircraft there is in fact Boeing KC-97G Stratofreighter (367-76-66) 4X-FPN/039 (c/n 16767), also named "Masada".
