Invicta Airways
G-ASEN is lined up on runway 25 for take-off. Klaus Held’s Riem chronicle lists several visits of this Invicta C-54A to Riem: 4 June 1966, 2 July 1966, 2 June 1968, and 31 March 1968 - probably the date of this photo as it was clearly taken on a spring day.
Information from flickr - thanks to Ken Fielding:
This aircraft was built as a C-54A in Sep-44 and delivered to the US Army Air Force the same month as 42-72307. It was sold back to the Douglas Aircraft Company after the end of hostilities in Jun-46. Converted to civil DC-4 standard (although it retained it's cargo door) it was sold to Pan-American World Airways in Feb-47 as N88936. In Oct-50 it was sold to Canadian Pacific Air Lines as CF-CPD and stayed with them for 4 years until it was sold to Cathay Pacific Airways as VR-HFF in Aug-54. It was sold to Starways in Jan-63 and transferred to Aviation Overhauls in Jan-64. It was leased to Icelandair as TF-FIM for the summer of 1964 (May to Oct), returning as G-ASEN. In Nov-64 it was leased to ACE Freighters and then sold to them in Jul-65. ACE then sold it to Invicta Airways in Feb-66. Invicta became Invicta Air Cargo in Jun-69. In Feb-71 it was sold to Africair Ltd as ZS-IJT. Finally, it was withdrawn from use and broken up at Bulawayo, Rhodesia in 1972.
