PH-DTD 'Maurice Ravel'

McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30

46553 / 82

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines

KLM DC-10s were among the first widebodies to be seen at Riem and would become quite frequent visitors during the 1970s. PH-DTD was noted at Riem on 21 March 1973 - only about a month after its delivery - together with two THY DC-10s. This shot may be from that date - the aircraft in the hazy background could be Maersk Air B720 OY-APZ parked on taxiway Foxtrott that busy day.

Information from flickr - thanks to heathrow junkie:

PH-DTD 'Maurice Ravel' c/n 46553 - McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 was an early build European DC-10, delivered new to KLM in February 1973. The aircraft flew with the airline until 1996, a very impressive 23 years before being sold to Krasnoyarsk Airlines of Russia as N533MD. A year later the aircraft was sold again, this time to Continental Airlines as N14090, but was withdrawn and stored three years later at Mojave, Arizona. The aircraft was broken up over a number of years.
