YI-AIO arrived at Riem on 12 July 1979 and is seen here leaving on 15 July 1979.

 

Iraqi Airways Il-76s noted at Riem include YI-AIP (May 1979, first visit of the type), YI-AIO (July 1979), YI-AIM (May 1980), YI-AKQ (ca. February 1982), YI-AKO (April 1982) and YI-ALQ (August 1983). Probably there were more during the mid and late 1980s.

 

YI-AIO was written of on 23 September 1980 (information from scramble.nl):

 

line # 08-09; opb 33 Squadron; in full 'green' Iraqi Airways c/s; seen ORY 02jul79; w/o 23sep80 on a positioning flight from Rasheed air base to Baghdad IAP (after a flight from Paris-Orly) when approached during an attack by fighter-bombers of the Iranian Air Force, was shot down by the Iraqi air defence with two S-125 "Neva" SAMs by mistake and crashed near the airport, all 3 crew members were killed.
