Syrian Arab Airlines (S.A.A.L.) had a special relationship with Munich, for reasons unknown to me. The airline was founded in October 1961 as the new national carrier, and flights to European destinations (Rome and Munich) were started in 1963, earlier than flights to London and Paris (Le Bourget) that only started in 1964! (Source: wikipedia) From 1976, Munich was even regularly served with the airline’s new B747SPs.

This DC-6B had started out with SAS as OY-KMA in May 1952 and served with Thai International between March 1961 and November 1962 before returning to SAS and going on to Syrian Arab Airlines in March 1964. It was wfu by 1979 although it may have been exported to Yemen in the early 1970s (rzjets.net) and turned into Yemen Airways‘ 4W-ABV which was stored at Sana'a, Yemen, for a long time (at least until 2009).
