D-AMAY taxiing in to the ramp after landing on runway 25. Taken from the viewing terrace. Riem’s resident L-200 Morava D-GGDC is visible in the background on the left, under D-AMAY’s nose.
Bavaria and Germanair merged in January 1977 and then merged into Hapag-Lloyd in April 1979. Their aircraft wore a hybrid colour scheme during this period, consisting of the basic Germanair livery with Bavaria Germanair titles and a stylized lion’s head logo (reflecting the Bavaria heritage) on the tail.
The first Airbus A300 to visit Riem was Airbus Industrie’s prototype F-WUAB on 15 June 1973. Germanair’s D-AMAX, delivered on 23 May 1975, followed second on 2 June 1975 (first report of the aircraft at Riem).
