N5609 "Clipper Norseman"
Boeing 727-51
18806 / 188
Pan Am
Still wearing the white belly from National Airlines‘ livery. Going by the number of photos on the web, Pan Am used N5609 mainly on the American continent - I didn’t find any other shot of it from Europe.
Information from panam-world.org:
N5609, Boeing 727-51, Clipper Norseman, notes: C/n 18806, originally delivered to Northwest Orient Airlines on 23 July 1965, registered N470US. It was later purchased by National Airlines on 22 June 1978, registered N3606, and was taken over by Pan Am after the buyout of National Airlines on 7 January 1980. Pan Am sold this Boeing 727-51 on 20 February 1985, to the Intercredit Corporation. Until this airliner was ultimately scrapped in 1991, it flew for several diverse operators, including Pacific Interstate Airlines, Royal West Airlines, Carnival Airlines, Aerostar Airlines and Bahamas Express.
Stored at MIA during September 1991. Broken-up & sunk as reef in Biscayne Bay, Florida during September 1993. (Source: Frank C. Duarte Jr, airliners.net)
